FAQ

  • What is this "Connect to Picassa/Twitter/Dropbox/etc" button, why does it launch a web browser?
  • That button is used to authenticate yourself using Open Authorization (OAuth). This is a safe method which is primarily designed for web authentication, but many service provider use only this method. After you click on this button, a login page will be opened in the web browser, and you'll be asked to authenticate yourself (You have to do this only once). Your username and password won't be reveived by JShot, just only a token which grants JShot a limited access to the service. This token can be revoked by you anytime.

  • Then why does this yellow warning message appear when I'm OAuthing on Picasaweb: "We recommend you deny access unless you trust the application."?
  • Google only allows to register web applications, not installed desktop application. This message is normal in this case. You "trusted" JShot when you downloaded and installed it. It doesn't make any sense to "not trust it again". Remember, your username and password won't be reveived by JShot.

  • Where does JShot store its configuration files?
  • JShot stores its profiles, plugins and config in the ".jshot" directory. This  directory is placed in your home.
    For example:
    Windows:   C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\.jshot or C:\Users\<username>\.jshot
    Linux:    /home/<username>/.jshot
